Nashik Players Shine at 24th National Rapid and Blitz Chess Championship of the Deaf

In a display of exceptional skill and strategic prowess, Nashik's seasoned chess players, Bhushan Pawar and Vivek Vatpade, showcased their expertise at the 24th National Rapid and Blitz Chess Championship of the Deaf. Organized by the All India Sports Council of the Deaf, the championship unfolded at the C.R.C. Patna Auditorium in Patna, Bihar, where participants engaged in intense battles of intellect and concentration.

Rapid Championship:

Bhushan Pawar showcased his mastery on the board, securing a commendable 4th position in the Rapid Championship. Hailing from Maharashtra, Pawar's strategic acumen and precision moves earned him 5.5 points, adding another feather to his cap of achievements.



Meanwhile, Vivek Vatpade, also hailing from Nashik, Maharashtra, demonstrated exceptional skill and determination, clinching the 2nd position with 6 points. His remarkable performance throughout the championship reaffirmed his status as one of the brightest talents in the Indian deaf chess community.

The top honors in the Rapid Championship went to Vaidya Devendra from Maharashtra, who displayed extraordinary consistency to clinch the title with 6.5 points. Following closely behind were Rohit Sharma from Delhi and Watpade Vivek from Maharashtra, securing the 2nd and 3rd positions respectively.

Blitz Championship: In the Blitz Championship, Nashik's pride, Bhushan Pawar, continued his stellar performance, finishing 4th with 4.5 points, showcasing his versatility across different formats of the game.

Vivek Vatpade continued to dazzle on the board, securing the 2nd position in the Blitz Championship with 4.5 points. His aggressive yet calculated style of play mesmerized spectators and opponents alike, reaffirming his position as a force to be reckoned with in the chess arena.

The Blitz Championship title was claimed by Malika Handa from Punjab, whose exceptional agility and quick thinking propelled her to the top with 5 points. Following her closely were Vivek Watpade from Maharashtra and Rohit Sharma from Delhi, securing the 2nd and 3rd positions respectively.


The championship also saw exemplary contributions from other participants, including Sharma Rohit from Delhi, whose consistent performance earned him 3rd place in both the Rapid and Blitz Championships. Meera Kumari, Shiv Priya Bhardwaj, and Kiran Devi, among the distinguished arbiters, ensured the smooth conduct of the event under the guidance of Chief Arbiter Shashinand Kumar and Deputy Chief Arbiter Alok Priyadarshi.

The All India Sports Council of the Deaf extends its heartfelt congratulations to all the winners and participants for their outstanding display of skill, sportsmanship, and dedication, contributing to the success of the 24th National Rapid and Blitz Chess Championship of the Deaf.
